Ricardo Tanturi - Virtual Class w/Makela 7/5/2020
As many of you know, the orchestra of Ricardo Tanturi is my favorite, especially with singer Alberto Castillo. Así se baila el tango is my mother's favorite tango, and I always treasure her memory of seeing Alberto Castillo at the break of her concert standing next to the Club Andes Talleres Club Sport in Godoy Cruz, Mendoza where she used to live at that time, in 1942 when she was only 15 years old. She was able to listen to him singing from his home. She always describes to me his elegance and ironed suit, but she didn't think that he was very handsome, however she always remarks - BUT HIS PRESENCE was incredible.

Right here is where the elegance is. What a look! What physique! What a presence! And arrogance! So much style and class to dance!
Even though the orchestra Los Indios of Ricardo Tanturi is considered ‘simplistic” and not very sophisticated, it is very popular for dancers because of the balance and richness of the rhythmic and melodic structure of their pieces. . That is why I love it! And also Alberto Castillo was born in Villa Luro, Buenos Aires, the neighborhood I was born and raised.
Another well known singer of this orchestra is Enrique Campos (who joined in 1946), and who wouldn’t love his versions of Una Emoción, Oigo tu voz, and Al pasar?
